Botaepa Biotech offers a sustainable, African-led solution to the continent’s diagnostic crisis by establishing a modular manufacturing and research facility in Ghana. This facility will locally produce high-quality, affordable molecular diagnostics to reduce dependency on imports and enable large-scale, cost-effective disease screening.
Africa’s health systems remain fragile and underdeveloped, lacking the capacity to manage advanced diseases and respond swiftly to public health threats. The continent is overly reliant on imported diagnostics, which are often expensive and inaccessible, making universal screening programs unfeasible and contributing to millions of preventable deaths. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical gaps in diagnostic availability and pandemic preparedness, while ongoing challenges in laboratory infrastructure and local manufacturing continue to hinder effective disease detection and health equity. Without building sustainable, locally driven solutions, Africa will remain vulnerable to future health crises and unable to meet its healthcare needs.

The project is backed by strong international partnerships with leading biotech companies such as DiagnoTech and Procomcure Biotech, who provide advanced technology and continuous mentorship to build local expertise and ensure global quality standards.
Starting with three essential product lines, Botaepa is designed to scale up to 25, ensuring flexibility to respond to emerging and re-emerging health threats.
Complementing this is the creation of an integrated national laboratory network to expand equitable access to diagnostics, strengthen early disease detection, and enhance Africa’s preparedness for future pandemics.
